William Daniels : Famous actor of America

William Daniels who is known for his role as Dr. Mark Craig in the NBC drama St. Elsewhere. William David Daniel,an American actor,  who was born on 31 March 1927 in Brooklyn, New York City. His father David was a bricklayer.

Early Life of  William Daniels

He was born to David Daniels and Irene Daniel who were a member of the singing Daniels Family in Brooklyn. At the age of 16 William Daniel made his debut on television. Later he appeared in the Life With Father in the year 1939 which was a comedy play. Jacqueline and Carol was the name of his sisters. In 1945 William Daniels was admitted in the U.S. Army and posted in Italy,where he was a radio station department.  Queen Victoria

The co author of the comedy Drama Howard Lindsay suggested William to get himself enrolled in G.I Bill in order to attend the college drama department. On the suggestion of Howard Lindsay he enrolled himself at Northwestern University  and completed his graduation from the Northwestern university in 1949 and become a member of Sigma Nu.

Career of William Daniels

William Daniels started his career as a member of singing Daniel family in Brooklyn. The age of sixteen he started his career. In 1943 he appeared in the comedy drama in Life With Father, he played many remarkable role at the beginning like A Thousand Clowns, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, and A Little Night Music. For “The Zoo Story ”  by Edward Albee in 1960 he won an Obie Award

In 1963 William made his film debut when he was 36 years old in Ladybug Ladybug movie which was based on the anti war drama in the movie he played a school principal Mr Calkins, His next film is A Thousand Clowns in 1965. He also played a supporting role in The Graduate in 1967. He also played John Adams in 1776.

He played a historic television series The Adams Chronicles in 1976. He also perform in The Nancy Walker Show which has total 13 episodes in 1976.  Series that are based on crime like Knight Rider which telecast in 1982 and lasted  till 1986.

William Daniel has also given his voice to an artificial intelligent electronic computer module, KITT, the series has total 90 episodes which was one of the popular series of its time. One of his very famous character was of Dr Mark Craig who is a surgeon in St Elsewhere  in 1982 and which lasted till 1988. The series has got  62 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

In the 2000 William Daniels also gave his voice to the animated television series like Kim Possible and in the Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. The  prominent role are in 2010 that of George Feeny, it appeared in the 5 episodes in sitcom series which is Girls Meets World in 2014 which was a sequel series of the Boys Meets World.

William David Daniels is the oldest actor who is living and also playing the roles.William Daniel celebrated his 92 birthday in 2020.

William Daniels Personal Life

William Daniel was very happy with his family. HE married to an actor and winner of Emmy Award Bonnie Bartlett on 30 June 1951. They adopted two children both are boys Michael and Robert. Bartlett gave birth to son who died.

Both their children are well settled. Michael who became an assistance director and manager in Los Angeles and another one Robert became an actor and graphic designer and stays in New York City.

Honors and Awards of William Daniels

In his career he has won many awards and also honor for his performances. In 1986 William Daniels and his wife Bartlett won the Emmy Award s together on the same night and had become the first couple to win the Emmy Award. William had  refused for the nomination for featured Actor in 1776.
