Simon Pegg Spills on Tom Cruise’s Crazy Stunts and That ‘Sly Grin’ Before Risking It All

Simon Pegg, the fan-favorite star of the Mission: Impossible series, is opening up about Tom Cruise’s wild side — and fans can’t get enough of it! In a recent interview, Pegg shared some behind-the-scenes secrets that show just how fearless (and a little scary) Cruise can be when it comes to doing his own death-defying stunts.

Pegg, who plays tech expert Benji Dunn in the action-packed franchise, recalled the exact moment he knew Cruise was about to do something insane. “He just gives you that s— eating grin,” Pegg joked. “It’s like he knows we’re all terrified, but he’s loving every second of it.”

One particular stunt that had Pegg truly nervous was during Mission: Impossible — Fallout, when Cruise famously performed a high-altitude, low-opening (HALO) jump from a plane. “We were watching monitors, and my hands were sweating,” Pegg admitted. “It’s not CGI, it’s not green screen. He’s actually doing it. And there’s always that little voice in your head going, ‘What if something goes wrong?’”

But Cruise, now 62, thrives on pushing the limits. Whether he’s hanging off the side of an airplane or riding a motorcycle off a cliff (yes, he did that too in Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning), he flashes that signature grin that says, “Trust me, I got this.”

Pegg says that while the crew gets nervous, Cruise’s commitment and confidence keep everyone focused. “That’s just Tom,” Pegg laughed. “He’s always got that glint in his eye before he jumps off something.”

With the next Mission: Impossible film already in the works, fans are wondering what jaw-dropping stunt Cruise will pull off next. If Pegg’s stories are anything to go by, one thing’s for sure: it’ll be bigger, bolder, and scarier than ever.
